As a proud mother of two Eagle Scouts, our founder, Lisa Frye Garrison, has heard the Scout Law recited countless times:  “A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.”  At Garrison Law Group, we pledge to follow these same principles in the way we serve our clients and operate our law firm. We are trustworthy stewards of your sensitive, privileged information and will strive to provide you with work of the highest quality. Excellence is our polestar. You can trust us to do all aspects of your work with passion, the highest level of skill, and great attention to detail. In addition, as a firm focused on serving health care providers, we are especially attuned to the importance of handling privileged, highly sensitive information with a focus on data security and HIPAA compliance. We impose strict privacy and security policies on all our staff and we have stringent file management, technological, and data security safeguards in place.


We are loyal, zealous advocates for you. We work only on the defense side of medical malpractice cases. From the start of your matter to its finish, we focus on hearing and understanding your perspective and communicating that perspective to opponents, judges, juries, plaintiffs, and investigators in an engaging, persuasive way.


We are helpful guides and problem-solvers. Our goal is not to “churn” your matter for as long as possible, regardless of the outcome. Instead, we offer you candid counsel and innovative, practical solutions. We will talk with you, on an ongoing basis, about your specific goals for each matter. Sometimes, we will recommend trying to resolve a matter early, especially if an error was made and it is not in your interest to “fight to the end.” Other times, we will recommend taking your case to trial. Regardless, we will provide honest counsel aimed at meeting your needs and goals.


We are friendly Southern folks. Our goal is for each interaction you have with us to be a pleasant moment in your otherwise hectic day. We know you could choose many law firms to represent you and walk with you through the uphill climb of litigation, claims, and investigations. We want to be the friendliest law firm you have ever worked with.


We will show you the courtesy and responsiveness you deserve. We will reply to your texts, answer your e-mails, and respond to your calls as soon as possible. All our lawyers list their mobile numbers on our website, so you can reach us quickly for your urgent needs. We will also be responsive to any concerns you may have about our bills or charges. We always want you to feel that we are grateful for your business … because we are.


We will treat you with kindness and compassion. It is no small thing to be accused of harming someone else or of violating standards of your profession. We know that you take it seriously. We also know, from decades of experience helping healers through this process, that it can be emotionally draining and upsetting. We genuinely care about how this process impacts you, your practice, and your business. We will walk beside you every step of the process, from the initial interview through depositions and trial, with a spirit of compassion and understanding.


We will follow your instructions (consistent with our ethical obligations). If you want a 90-day reports, 60-day pre-mediation reports, or 30-day pre-trial reports, you will get them…. on time, without having to remind us. Whether you want detailed deposition reports or quick overviews, written or verbal trial status reports, budgets, expert pre-approval submissions, or the like, you will have them. We will make every effort to study your litigation and billing guidelines and comply with them consistently, without constant reminders from you … and when we make a mistake (as we sometimes will), we will correct it promptly.


We are a positive, cheerful group. Lisa’s license plate for years has been “PHIL 4:6-9”, which includes these words that are displayed in our law office: “Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” We believe in these principles. We will always give you our candid assessments, including constructive, “negative” feedback; that is part of being a trusted guide on the uphill climb of litigation and investigations. But we will also emphasize the positive in our interactions with you. We owe you no less.


We will do our work for you efficiently and economically. We know that litigation is expensive … and an expense that your company would rather not incur. Our goal is to find innovative ways to do your work with the highest level of quality, while still being thrifty and economical. One of the main reasons Lisa founded Garrison Law Group was to have the freedom to do your work more efficiently, through the advantages of a boutique firm platform. Our staff focuses 90-95% of our time on defending hospital systems and their employees. We have a constant, laser focus on how we can most efficiently and effectively handle medical records, perform investigations, interview providers, prepare for and defend depositions, find and work with experts, and try cases. We also have personnel with special expertise in this health care industry, including a nurse paralegal with more than 30 years of clinical experience and a special projects paralegal with pharmacy technician training.


Okay, this one doesn’t really apply to us … it applies to you. Lawyers are rarely called on to show real courage. But surgeons and OR nurses and techs who dive into emergency surgery are brave. EMTs who run toward danger to save lives are brave. Flight teams and ED physicians and nurses who provide lifesaving care in response to traumatic, catastrophic accidents and situations are brave. And risk managers who do the right thing—in emotionally charged, life-or-death situations—are brave. Our pledge is to honor your courage through respectful, outstanding service to you.


We operate our firm in a way that promotes a clean environment and preserves our natural resources. Our firm follows myriad sustainable practices, including a paperless filing system, recycling program, double-sided printing and single-spaced drafting, gently used office furniture, recycled office supplies, water service from a local, NC company, reusable tumblers/mugs provided to all (in lieu of paper cups), and using paper with recycled content or from sustainably sourced forests. We also believe that sustainability applies to our most precious resource—our employees. We will operate our firm in a manner consistent with Christian principles. This does not mean that we will impose our religious beliefs on you or our colleagues. It does not mean that we only hire people who profess to be Christian or that we look down on those who are not. Instead, it means that we will strive to bring glory to God through our work. Micah 6:8 says, “And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” We believe that these principles of fairness, justice, mercy, humility, and walking with God are the hallmarks of a Christian life. We strive to follow Jesus’ example by living these principles in the way we serve you and others.
